Jinshan is a beautiful farming town near Shanghai in Eastern China. Villagers there have been creating beautiful embroidery, weaving, paper cuts and pottery for centuries. Untutored as painters, and mostly farmers by trade, the Jinshan artists have transferred their skills to this new medium, painting. Their naïve and exuberantly colored works readily portray the rustic, everyday concerns of their lives, virtually unaltered for generations.

MyerWong Gallery was founded in 1993 and is one of only a handful of presenters of Jinshan Peasant paintings in America.  Our paintings are all originals created by the original artists from the town of Jinshan.  We directly represent a group of artists from Jinshan. The paintings vary in size from 6" square to more than 36".

They are painted with gouache on rice paper and then adhered to poster board for durability.
